Panasonic Lumix TZ5 and date stamp!?! Tell me it is a joke that it doesnt have it?

Please tell me it is a joke that the Panasonic Lumix TZ5 does have a feature for automatically adding the photodate on the picture. I cannot believe that such a fundamental feature would not be available. Is it really so that you will have to stamp the date on the pictures manually (doing them in groups just as bad). Please! Someone tell me how it is done immediately and automatically.

    On my Lumix I have to go into the Menu after pictures are taken and select date stamp and stamp 1 or all with dates.
    The catch is if you take an 8,9 or 10 mega pixel shot and time date stamp it, it will become an 3 mp shot.
